Transportation is available to anyone making a day trip to Daufuskie Island. Our Daufuskie Island ferry operates on a reservation basis and offers multiple departure and return times throughout the day. This allows our passengers to schedule their travel plans based on their day's activities.

Located in the Freeport Marina, the Daufuskie Crab Company offers fresh Lowcountry seafood. This unique Island hotspot features a variety of delicious entrees like fresh shrimp, fish, deviled crab, burgers, and quesadillas, with the backdrop of Daufuskie's magnificent water views. And don't forget to try an ice cold "Scrap iron" to wash it all down.

School Grounds Coffee (919) 610-8808
School Grounds Coffee is a casual cafe on Daufuskie Island offering customers a selection of distinctive roasts served in the same school house made famous in local author Pat Conroy's novel, The Water Is Wide. Along with the coffee, we recommend the Black Cherry Lemonade and the Hot Chocolate!

Re-opened in 2018 Melrose Beach Club is a restaurant with beautiful Atlantic Ocean views! "We aim to please with our delicious food and wonderful atmosphere!" Located along the Calibogue Sound, the Club has views of Hilton Head and the Atlantic Ocean with both indoor and outdoor seating available. They also offer a children's menu and Brunch on Sundays.

Community Farm
Since 2010, Daufuskie Community Farm and Artisan Village has devoted its energy to passionately advocating sustainable living on Daufuskie Island. The local community has contributed to the planning, construction, and growth of this thriving work by expanding the farm from animals into gardens, orchards, and the new Artisan Village!

Daufuskie Island Rum reflects all the quirks, characteristics, and beauty that our little island gives us. Daufuskie Island Rum is one of only a few rums actually created on an island. Each rum is distilled, bottled, and packed by hand on the island and is 100% American made. Stop by for a tour and tasting.

The Iron Fish Gallery
American Made award winning metal sculptor Chase Allen specializes in handcrafting coastal fish, mermaid, crab, sea turtle, lobster, and stingray sculptures. His work is showcased in a unique outdoor gallery adjacent to his studio.

Silver Dew Pottery
Island natives Lancy and Emily Burn have been producing an impressive array of functional, aesthetic and art pottery since 1996. Their studio showroom also contains hands-on displays of locally found Indian pottery dating back thousands of years.

Located in the old Mary Field School House; local islanders Rhonda and Leanne create custom, hand dyed textiles made with organic indigo and other colors harvested from nature, inspired by ancient cultures.


Other Points of Interest

Travel down the Melrose Avenue of Oaks past the horse stables to the lagoon where you can view the bird rookery and maybe some alligators in the pond.

Continue past the Melrose entrance, take a left on the Public Beach Access Rd and follow it all the way to "Driftwood Beach"; where tidal flooding is slowly eroding the maritime forest. Enjoy quiet Beach with views of Hilton Head Island, the Atlantic, and Tybee Island, Georgia.

Check out the Daufuskie Fire Station located next to the Farm. They give a great hands-on tour. Kids are sure to enjoy this!
